Social

Social connection is fundamental to who we are. For children and young people who struggle to make sense of the social world, social connection can be lacking. They might struggle to understand the nuances of social interaction that help to identify things like: what to say and when to say it; the appropriate tone to use; and how to interpret other people's intentions and, in turn, respond accordingly. Understanding these nuances is integral to making and maintaining friendships. For those who don’t, social interaction can be confusing, overwhelming and, for some, lead to anxiety and avoidance and negatively impact confidence and self-esteem.

I believe in working collaboratively with children and young people to help them make sense of the social world they inhabit to feel more at ease within it and, ultimately, themselves.
